Hello Maritime Infrastructure Works!
Infrastructure spending is tagged and flagged as a major driver for both state and federal governments to stimulate the economy into and through the post-COVID recovery. While the highly-publicised announcements have concentrated on land-focussed projects, there is considerable spend happening around the waterfronts and inland waterways. Projects which may be of interest to our boaters.
The NSW Government has announced an investment of $205m for maritime works over 3 years. Some of the projects noted by the NSW Minister for Transport, Andrew Constance include upgrades and construction of ferry wharves but there are projects of note for recreational boaters. Dredging work will be undertaken, especially in regional waterways, to improve the safety in navigating channels and entrances. Regional works also include foreshore and maritime infrastructure right along the coastline from Eden to Tweed Heads.
This should be welcome news for many NSW boaters and those travelling from interstate.
